Writer Toolkit
How to use
What it does
A set of writing aids: generate character and place names in a chosen style, organise worldbuilding notes and character profiles with card templates, build a story outline around three-act or chapter structure, count manuscript words and read time, use a writing sprint timer to keep output going for a set stretch, and work through writing exercises aimed at description and dialogue. Useful for framing a long project early on and for finding momentum midway.
How to use it
Tabs at the top switch between the modules. The name generator restricts cultural background, syllable count and gendered leaning and produces candidates in batches; the worldbuilding and character cards are forms whose content saves locally and can be exported; the outline panel organises plot beats as draggable chapter bars; the word counter accepts a full manuscript and analyses paragraph distribution; the sprint timer runs for a chosen duration and records how many words you produced.
FAQ
Where do worldbuilding and character card contents live — will I lose them?
They are forms saved locally in the browser, with export available. For any long project, export backup files regularly — clearing browser data means losing your notes, and it happens more often than you would think.
Does the sprint timer record what I produced?
Yes. It runs for your chosen duration and logs the word count of that round. Lining up several rounds shows your rhythm better than any single sprint.
Can names from the generator go straight into a manuscript?
You can batch candidates by cultural background, syllable count and gendered leaning, then pick from the pool. Before committing, read a name back in the story's context to check it flows and does not collide with existing names.
