How to play
Gameplay
Two-player chess with basic legality checking: illegal moves are refused and checks are flagged. Castling, en passant and pawn promotion are all supported. The aim is to checkmate the opposing king, that is, to attack it so that no legal reply can save it.
Controls
Click a piece to highlight its legal destinations, then click the target square to move. When a pawn reaches the last row you choose the piece to promote it to. Play alternates automatically, and the interface shows whose turn it is and whether a king is currently in check.
FAQ
How does pawn promotion work?
Promotion happens automatically to a queen - there is no piece-picker dialog, so every pawn reaching the last rank becomes a queen.
What happens when the blitz clock runs out?
Each side starts with 3 minutes; when your clock reaches zero you lose on time immediately, and the clock badge turns red under 20 seconds.
